Recessive ball python gene
Candy Ball Python: Genetics and Pairing Odds
Candy is a recessive gene. A ball python needs two copies to look Candy; with one copy it looks normal and is called het Candy. Pair two hets and about a quarter of the babies are visual Candy, while the normal-looking siblings are each 66% likely to be het. Breed a visual to a normal and every baby is het, which is how most Candy projects start.
