Recessive ball python gene
Puzzle Ball Python: Genetics and Pairing Odds
Puzzle is a recessive gene. A ball python needs two copies to look Puzzle; with one copy it looks normal and is called het Puzzle. Pair two hets and about a quarter of the babies are visual Puzzle, while the normal-looking siblings are each 66% likely to be het. Breed a visual to a normal and every baby is het, which is how most Puzzle projects start.
