Recessive ball python gene
Orange Ghost Ball Python: Genetics and Pairing Odds
Orange Ghost is a recessive gene. A ball python needs two copies to look Orange Ghost; with one copy it looks normal and is called het Orange Ghost. Pair two hets and about a quarter of the babies are visual Orange Ghost, while the normal-looking siblings are each 66% likely to be het. Breed a visual to a normal and every baby is het, which is how most Orange Ghost projects start.
In Lock and Lay, Orange Ghost can't be bought at the start. It turns up only as a spontaneous mutation, from a lucky egg, and the first breeder to hatch one gets their name on the discovery board.
